Policeman commits suicide after shooting wife, maid



Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed that a policeman, Sgt. Thomas Agada, has committed suicide after shooting his wife and maid. The incident happened in the early hours of Sunday at Masaka in Karu Local Government Area of the state.

Woman Ogechi Amadi among Evans’ kidnap gang

The Nigerian Police Force made good its promise to parade Nigeria’s billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike, alias Evans and members of his gang, revealing their victims and the ransom collected at various times. Most shocking, the police also unveiled a woman, Ogechi Amadi as one of the gang members.

How notorious kidnapper, Evans was caught like a chicken

Evans, described as the most notorious, high profile kidnapper – and the richest in Nigeria – was,  at last, unmasked. Before yesterday’s arrest, the Police had placed a N30million bounty on his head. When Policemen broke into his room to arrest him, he was said to have sheepishly said, “I know this is the end,m I am finished”. His real name is Chukwudidumeme Onuamadike, aged 36, and hails from Umudim Village, Nnewi   North Local Government Area of Anambra State. Sunday Vanguard has been made to understand that during preliminary questioning, Evans confessed to having been behind virtually all the high profile kidnap incidents in places including but not limited to Lagos, Port Harcourt, Onitsha, Aba. His exploits also  included the 2013 attempted kidnapping of the owner of The Young Shall Grow Motors.

Arrested kidnapper Evans buys $170K wristwatch

Glimpses about the lavish lifestyle of the billionaire kidnapper Evans are emerging, with his confession that he splashed his loot in buying a wristwatch for $170,000.

He also bought three phones for $6000 each and bought two houses in highbrow Magodo Estate in Lagos and another house in Ghana.

Evans was arrested in one of the houses in Lagos on Saturday, after eluding police radar for five years. The Nation in a report today said Evans real name is Chukwudubem Onwuamadike. He is from Umudim, Nnewi in Anambra state.

MKO Abiola: Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Oyo declare June 12 public holiday


FOUR South West states of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Osun  have declared today, June 12 as a work free day as part of the 22nd year commemoration of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election presumed won by late Chief MKO Abiola. In a statement signed by Habib Aruna, the Chief Press Secretary to  governor  Akinwunmi Ambode, the governor said the date marked a watershed in the annals of transparent, free and fair elections in the country.

Usain Bolt sprints to 100-meter victory in final race in native Jamaica


Eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt competed for the final time in his native Jamaica on Saturday night, winning the 100 meters at the Salute to a Legend race at Kingston's National Stadium.
Bolt easily topped the field with a time of 10:03.
Following the race, the skies above the stadium lit up with a fireworks display. Bolt says he plans to end his career at the world championships in London in August.

Police IRT celebrate arrest of billionaire kidnapper Evans


Operatives of the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team, IRT, have celebrated the arrest of Nigeria’s billionaire kidnapper, Evans.
The kidnap kingpin, it was gathered, targets wealthy businessmen and collects no less than N50m before releasing them.

Igbo quit notice: Hausa community says Cross River is their home


Hausa Community in Cross River State has said that Cross River State is their home and they have no intention to leave as the state is peaceful for them. “Cross River State remains not only the most peaceful state in the country to live and do business, but has continued to display its love for both indigenes and non indigenes alike,” members of the Hausa community in calabar affirmed.
